Kavala is a typical port with a beautiful location. The town is amphitheatrically built on a mountain. The view on top or when you arrive by boat is very impressive. There are many shops, tavernas and cafes for every taste downtown and along the port. Worth visiting is the old town with the small alleys and the byzantine fortress as well as the aqueduct and the Egyptian Imaret. There are a lot of other sights in the area of Kavala. The excavations in Philippi, the ravine of Nestos, limestone caves, etc.
Last but not least there are wonderful beaches around Kavala and the villages along the coast.
